1980 to 1987 W123 W126 DIESEL Steering Lock and Key Assembly Modified and REBUILT

Key sticking or stuck? New are NLA. Most used are worn out internally so new tumbler won't fix them. Be careful buying on eBay as many are worn out internally.

This assembly has a new tumbler installed with two keys included.  It will fit the 1980 to 1985 240D, 300D, 300CD, and 300TD. It will also fit the 1981 to 1985 300SD and the 1986 to 1987 300SDL. We take them apart here in our shop, thoroughly clean and inspect them, modify the insides, install a new tumbler with new keys, and lube it with special grease for long life. When you receive it the key will work smoothly and you will immediately notice there is no banging or snapping noise when you turn the key off and remove it from the tumbler. With the modification, we make it so it will not wear out again ( because it is the lack of grease and that snapping release that wears these steering locks out). IMPORTANT TO NOTE: To make this lasting modification, there is one function you will lose. The switch for the key buzzer will no longer work ( we deactivated it to eliminate ongoing wear). Most owners don't need or don't care about a buzzer warning if they leave the key in the ignition!  They just want a key and lock assembly that works well and works for years! The small locking pin was drilled out by the previous owner. Not a problem since who is going to try to get into your Benz and remove the steering lock - let alone know how ot do it. Just line the pin up with the hole in the steering column and tighten the factory clamp securely.  It will not come out.

Since we are now rebuilding these lock assemblies, we can offer you a $50 credit or refund it if you return your old steering lock to us complete with the black screw cap.
