This kit will not fix all your pump problems. If the motor is worn or burnt out, this won't help. But if the lower impeller is "stuck" due to lack of use and old fuel, then this could be a simple fix. In the video below, Kent will explain what this kit can fix and why it is needed. You will learn the problems associated with old fuel in your gas tank and how best to protect these lower plate o-rings. If you have a 1959 to 1973 fuel-injected Mercedes with a 6-cylinder engine (or a 6.3 V8), you should have this kit on standby! One day, you will turn the key, and the fuel pump may not run!

This is what is included in the kit:
- 3 bottom plate special nitrile o-rings
- Special lube to protect and help seat the O-ring
- Scotch Brite cleaning pad
- Two plastic razor blades
Both LONG and SHORT pumps use the same o-ring to seal the bottom plate. BE CAREFUL when removing the lower plate to note the orientation of the impeller. On the long pump, there is a VERY SMALL key between the impeller and the shaft. DO NOT lose this small keyway.

MFI (mechanical fuel injection) fuel pumps are notorious for leaking fuel. Leaks are almost always due to age hardened and deformed o-rings inside the pump. Taking the pump off the car, taking it apart, cleaning it and installing new seals will almost always solve the fuel leak problems.

These early “short style” electric fuel pumps are very prone to leaking fuel because the rubber case o-ring seals harden with age. New pumps are no longer available and rebuilt are VERY expensive! If you risk buying a used one it will probably end up leaking or seeping fuel too.
MFI Short Fuel Pump Yellow Zinc Original Style Screws and Lock Washers
The original screws in these pumps get pretty nasty looking over time. When you try to clean them will a wire wheel the plating will be completely removed and the heads will rust again pretty quickly. Now you can install new original looking yellow zink plated screws and washers.
