When these old rubber hoses deteriorate internally they can reduce braking efficiency and even cause your brakes to grab and overheat! If in doubt of their age just replace them. They are not expensive and are easy to replace yourself with the right instructions and tools.
Problem & Solution
Common among these chassis:
One of the hardest part of the job is loosening up the hard metal line without rounding off the nut. These are on hard and over the lines they can take some real force to loosen. You will need a flare nut head wrench to loosen the nut without damage. We have one that even has a flex head to allow better access to the nut - which is sometimes not very easy to get at.
We offer brake hose replacement kits with instructions. You can purchase the proper brake fluid and wrench with our kits or separately. Kent has also written manuals on how to repair every aspect of your braking system and to bleed the system properly.
