Inside Rear View Mirror Removal and Replacement

Improper technique can break the mirror glass or permanently damage the ball socket

This is a big problem and can create a lot of frustration. It is not as easy as it may first appear. We see so many damaged rear view mirrors that we know most owners do not know how to properly remove and replace it.  Replacing it is actually the hardest part. If you have a broken mirror or a floppy mirror bracket the best way to fix it is to remove it and replace it with a new or good used mirror. You could get new mirror glass at a glass shop but a loose ball socket is almost impossible to repair. In his on demand video instruction Kent explains how the mirror mount works and his personal favorite trick to getting the mirror back on quickly. This procedure applies to all models with spring mounted inside mirrors from 1962 to 1995.
