If you have had to remove any of the banjo bolts you can see that those sealing rings are getting quite old... when you see scoring in the ring the ring appears to be crushed, they should be replaced to prevent leaks and to prevent air from getting into the fuel lines. Watch the video to see where they are located and how they are installed.
Product Details
We are recommending copper instead of aluminum for most of the hose banjos except for large aluminum washers on the check valve on the back side of the injection pump. We have found that copper seals better due to the wear on these old fittings. There are a total of 10 individual sealing rings used on the fuel filter and injection pump on the 1977 to 1985 OM616 and OM617 engines. We are including 4 extra rings for spares.
Two sealing rings are needed for each bolt - one on each side of the banjo fitting as shown.
Copper replacements shown here.
