This is a very common failure item on the OM617 turbo diesel engines. There are two reasons why it bends or strips. 1) The original threaded adjusting rod is made of a VERY soft metal. 2) Owners or mechanics do not loosen the three large mounting bolts BEFORE adjusting the tension on the V-belts. Kent designed this improvement and now makes it in our own shop with a much stronger threaded rod.

Here is a comparison of our bolt (upper) and the genuine. Genuine bolts are hard to find and can be very expensive ( approximately $70). Even if you purchase a new OEM, you may have problems down the road. We include a new nut and wave washer with your bolt.
