The VCV valve controls the critical shifting patterns of most diesel automatic transmissions from 1978 to 1985. This includes the 1978 to 1985 300SD, the 1980 to 1985 W123 300D, 300CD and 300TD and the 1980 to 1983 240D. These are no longer available new and most of the used ones you may try to purchase are not working properly or worn out. Kent set out to find a way to repair them only to discover that only about 50 to 60 percent can be restored to work properly. See the video below for a more detailed explanation.
Product Details
This kit, along with three on-demand videos, will help you open up, test, and hopefully repair your VCV valve. The kit includes the following as shown above.
- Modified screwdriver to open up the valve without damaging it.
- Press clamp to aid in cleaning the vacuum bleeder valve
- New rubber o-ring
- Silicone and swabs to help with assembly
You will also need a vacuum hand pump tester in order to complete the testing and service. If you do not already have one you can purchase it separately. See related products below. With the vacuum hand pump tester and the tools and supplies in the kit you will quickly learn if your VCV is even repairable. If not, you can begin your hunt for a good used one and know how to test it quickly either before purchase or before installing on your diesel.
